IPW Flags Weak Procurement Oversight in the Regions

IPW has long argued that the weakest links in procurement oversight are frequently at the regional level, where technical capacity, independent scrutiny, and media attention are often thinnest. Planning controls that are already imperfect nationally can be weaker still in local agencies, widening the room for inflated budgets and steered contracts. IPW calls for targeted support to strengthen regional procurement units and internal auditors, and for local journalists and civil society to make regional tenders a routine subject of attention.
